The handling characteristics of the door are strongly coupled to the customer experience of the ergonomics and quality of the door. With reduced development time it is important to make it possible to study the door opening and closing effort, doorcheck forces, door closing velocities and lowest closing speed, before hardware is available. This paper describes the outline of how to perform such a simulation with the multi-body dynamics simulation software MSC.ADAMS. The modelling technique is described, the influence of the different parameters is discussed and the correlation of the model and verification of the modelling technique is presented.
