In this study, the large composite train carbody was manufactured as one body using a large autoclave. The carbody structure was cured two times because of the manufacturability and reliability of the carbody. The structural behavior and safety of the composite carbody of the Korean tilting train was investigated by the static load tests. From the test results, the stiffness of the composite carbody met the design requirement. In aspect of strength, the maximum stress of the composite bodyshell was of 12.2% of strength of the CF1263 carbon/epoxy. In case of the composite parts, the cutouts for the side windows and the side entrance doors were stress concentration points. In case of the stainless steel underframe, the maximum stress occurred under the end compressive load and the stress value was less than yield strength.
