To stay abreast of the wave of progress and meet the higher demands being placed on lubricants, it has been essential to research new problem solving solutions. Quite often, conventional lubricating greases do not meet the technical demands placed on them with respect to oxidation stability, service temperature, long-term lubrication, plastic and rubber compatibility, etc. Their service limits are reached very quickly in most cases. At this point, silicone greases and fluids, due to their wide variety and unique properties like thermal stability, good oxidation stability, good plastic compatibility, chemical inertness, stability against hydrolysis, good viscosity-temperature behavior, good low temperature properties, high compressibility and low vapor pressure, offer suitable solutions too many problems. Application fields for silicone-based greases are wide spread. The most demanding requirements are found in the automotive industry, where greases have to work at temperatures between -40 deg C and +180 deg C.
