Silicone rubbers are providing the answer to new challenges in application specifications and requirements across industries. This paper will address a wide range of applications advancements enabled by silicone technology. In the automotive industry, silicones are meeting increased challenges of higher temperature resistance, higher oil and fuel resistance and better internal and external bonding capabilities while providing improvements in productivity. For electrical markets, specifically for insulation applications, silicones are demonstrating enhanced electrical properties in combination with high productivity solutions. While the easy processing and enhanced physical properties of silicone are important for price competitiveness in consumer applications, silicones also are setting the standards for new safety and special cables developments.
