Autonomous power systems in vehicles or with wind power units, as a rule, have to supply both DC and AC comsumers. Given that the proportion of DC consumers is expected to increase, while a considerable proportion of AC consumers will remain insensitive to frequency stability, it is expedient to use the converted energy from a DC unit to supply power to consumers requiring AC power of stable frequency and high quality. A conversion system with a DC element is considered. The system includes an asynchronous generator with two windings in the stator and a transformer with two primary windings. In contrast to rod-type transformers, transformers with a rotating magnetic field do not include a yoke. The operation of the system is explained, using the functional diagram. Energy from the storage battery is used to start the vehicle motor or to precondition the rotor of the wind power unit. Experiments show that converters of this configuration improve the harmonic composition of the output voltage and reduce the distortion. Using converters with a 30 deg shift of the primary windings, significantly reduces the effective value of the phase currents at small loads. Electrical filters are required to reduce the distortion of the output voltage. Using converters with a shift of the primary windings that is a multiple of 15 deg and 12-step phase voltages of the primary windings, an output voltage complying with the GOST 19705-89 standard may be obtained without the need for filters.
