A new anchor handling system SAHS (Safe Anchor Handling System) is developed by Ulstein Design in collaboration with Bourbon Orca and Odim. The system includes a new stern ramp, moveable towing pin, cranes mounted on cargo rails and equipment for catching the pennant wire. The aim of the new system is to eliminate the dangerous parts of anchor handling and methods were developed to protect seamen during the most dangerous operations. The development of the SHAS system is an important project for Odim and is a part of the company's commitment to the offshore supply market. The company also developed a diesel-electric propulsion system. This type of propulsion system has been under development and comes with different varieties depending on the ship concept. High propulsion under diesel electric power calls for large generators and diesel engines. The idea of developing the unique propulsion system on the Bourbon Orca is that the vessel should function optimally for the jobs.
