The advances made in design and validation processes using CFD (computational fluid dynamics ) are discussed. The CFD tool is usually used in designing oil pipeline intersections, ship hulls and wind turbines. The datasets produced from large detailed simulations were also used to calibrate simpler engineering models for everyday use in plant design. The CFD tool also provide blast-loading data to help in the specification of structural components.
