The availability of high performance and low cost hardware allows a real-time platform to emulate the dynamic behaviour of a car vehicle coupling hardware in the loop. However, it is hard to implement an efficient mechanical model that could be used in a real-time emulation platform because of the complexity of mechanical systems. This paper describes a flexible mechatronic real time emulator to test Anti Lock Braking System (ABS) of car Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The platform is based on modular hardware environment including a simplified mechanical model of car vehicle. Some experimental results obtained using an industrial ABS ECU control board and the emulation system are presented to validate the approach.
