This paper presents a method based on strain theory to test temperature stress of seamless rail. An easy-to-design interface circuit can measure very small-percentage capacitance variations of the differential capacitive sensor, which measure the strain of rail. The output voltage of the interface circuit is a linear function of capacitance change. The simulation results using SPICE show a good correspondence with the theoretical analysis. A sensitivity of 1.34x1012 V/F was given according to the simulation results.
