A drilling/production system, Atlantis Artificial buoyant Seabed (ABS), developed by Atlantis Deepwater Technology Holding (ADTH), is described. The use of the Atlantis ABS is expected to reduce the drilling related costs by 30 to 50%. The concept of the drilling system is based on an artificial buoyant seabed, which is installed at shallow depth, typically below 200-300m below sea level. The ABS replaces the functions of the real seabed. There are two versions of the the systems, the exploration version and the production version. The exploration drilling version of the Atlantis system caters for a single-well, while the field development and production versions accommodate three wells.
