An automotive active suspension controller using Hinfinite theory is designed. Usage of automotive active suspension has two main reasons - to increase ride comfort and to improve handling performance. Both this requirements are contradictory and it's impossible to satisfy them simultaneously with passive suspension. A half-vehicle model for front and rear axles is used in the design. This model can include interactions between wheels upon drive in road irregularities and it is also possible to simulate braking and accelerating. Usability of the Hinfinite theory, respecting both robustness and performance of the control system, is evident from the obtained results. The mentioned experiments imply that a very good ride comfort, i.e. small vertical displacement peaks and sprung mass acceleration attenuation in a required frequency range, has been achieved. Also the attenuation of the pitching velocity as a car handling indicator has been very good. Only the tire pressure has not been improved, but it has been similar to the passive suspension case, so this is the price for contradiction. The controller improved the robustness of the suspension system, as well.
