A Norwegian-based company Marintek developed a computer tool, called SIMLA, for analysis of offshore pipelines in deep waters and rough environments. The objective of SIMLA was to develop a software tool capable of simulating the structural response of a pipe during laying, and to allow inspection of the result of this operation by 3D graphical visualization of the pipe on the seabed, including pipe details with results from the analysis. The SIMLA visualization module automatically adjusts the graphical resolution of both the pipe and the seabed, depending on viewpoint.
