This article presents results of an investigation carried out on an automobile diesel engine running on pure sunflower oil methyl ester (SFME), and mixed with diesel fuel, with the aim of obtaining comparative measures of exhaust emissions covering all the conditions of the engine's performance. In the first instance, tests were carried out without any modification of the engine timing, which was established by the manufacturer, and then emission measurements were taken when the start of injection timing was delayed by 3 degree.
