Michael Lu of Packy Poda Inchas developed a mat for use in vehicles. In US Patent 6677027, he claims the mat can scrape dirt from shoes as well as providing a treading plate arranged stably on a main plate. A treading plate is mounted on the main plate in a recessed section. Also, there are a series of protrusions and a series of cross-channels with a number of fastening points. Each fastening post is inserted into a corresponding hole in the treading plate and engages with the annular groove of the fastening post. In use, the occupant treads on the plate and the dirt on their shoes can be scraped away by the dirrt scrape block; this dirt then enters the cross-channels through the holes in the treading plate where it is retained and covered.
