Aluminium and its alloys are the most preferred metal in automobile castings for its higher specific stiffness and lower weight. The continuous thrust for higher fuel efficiency has increased its demand in auto industry applications. Although aluminium alloys and its matrix composites were research subjects for auto designers since last few decades, the commercial applications have just started. With more and more focus on this area, this has led to innovations, different approaches to control factors for moniroring properties of alloys, alloy composites, alloy matrix and cost economies. It is time that aluminium industries take a proactive role to meeting the challenges in the aluminium auto casting centre.
