Warranty and goodwill cost are in focus on OEM side as well as on the side of suppliers of electronic systems like Bosch. To enable a sustainable reduction of these cost adequate tools for On- and Offboard diagnosis that master the increasing complexity and interdependency of the systems are mandatory. In case of a service event, service technicians must have the know how to quickly isolate the root cause and identify and replace only the defect parts. Therefore the systems must be designed for serviceability. Moreover the needed service information must be available. Not only new tools and methods are required, but also process and organizational changes within the whole supply chain. Helpful innovations have already been made in the field of diagnosis. A Bosch 'diagnosis platform' for automatic data transfer and routine generation has been designed. Wireless data feedback from the workshops and evaluation at the OEM as well as expert diagnosis already exists. Also remote Operation is in use. Onboard diagnosis is best to cover sporadic events. Nevertheless, due to cost reasons powerful measurement equipment in the workshop will also be needed in the future. Establishing LifeCycle Quality: reducing warranty and repair expenses and gain LifeCycle quality requires the involvement of all stakeholders along the vehicle life cycle and a diagnostic life cycle strategy. The underlying concept describes a collaboration environment, which comprises a development and a runtime component based on an all encompassing architecture. Although there is no single product suite available addressing all needs, existing implementations and initiatives are already building blocks of the required solution. If you are interested, join us in driving one or more of these offerings forward together to create vehicle quality and reliability.
