The benefits of the Triton T750-1 heavy duty trenching ROV system, delivered to Canyon Offshore in June 2003, are discussed. The vehicle is able to operate on tracks, skids or pipe rollers and able to do pipeline excavation and burial tasks. The highest power underwater system is powered by three 250hp electric motors. Two motors are used with variable speed control on the high pressure water pumps and the third motor drives the hydraulic circuit, including the thrusters. The system has been used to bury rigid pipelines up to 405mm diameter in trenches up to 2m deep in the sea.
