The aim of the present paper is to study the behaviour of diesel engine driven generators used in maritime engineering on real time operation and under abnormal conditions. Simulator exercises have been defined to reflect some of these options. Thus, two of generators that are driven by diesel engines, modelled as high speed engines with all vital subsystems such as governor, sea water system, cooling water - lubrication oil, start air, turbo charge, air cooler and fuel oil. Besides, the study attempts to provide solutions for real operating problems of diesel electro generators such as the heavy fuel / diesel oil change-over, the unbalanced and balanced load sharing and to test the reactions of personnel that are responsible for the normal function of generators. These solutions will give a quantative description of the work and it will form a basis to reveal the most important risk factors.
