A sliding mode controller for semi-active suspension system with MR damper is presented in this paper. In the proposed sliding mode controller, a semi-active suspension based on the skyhook damper system is chosen as the reference model to be followed, and the control law is determined so that the asymptotically stable error dynamics occur between the controlled state and the reference model stare. In addition, numerical simulations were carried out in order to investigate the performance of the sliding mode controller, the results show that the proposed controller could yield almost perfect tracking to the reference model and achieve a high robustness against model uncertainties and disturbances.
