The article presents results of a field study conducted with 60 car drivers in Rostock, DE. These car drivers got a one month free ticket for the local public transportation system (PTS), and - for this - they report their experiences with PTS during the test-month. Positive attitude-effects could be observed in the form that about one third of participating car drivers improved their picture of PTS in the course of the test-month. On the level of behavior, it first should be noted that subjects make use of the free ticket, i.e. they use the PTS in the test-month. Concerning future behavior, it can be expected that - compared to the situation before the test-month - subjects will use the PTS more often. The relatively most frequent pattern is that former non-users now become occasional users of PTS. For at least 10 percent of test-participants it can be assumed that in the future they will buy a PTS-month-ticket by themselves. Commuting to work is the way, subjects most often switched from car to PTS during the testmonth and subjects most often will stay with PTS in the future.
