The Viking Energy is the world's first LNG-fuelled supply/cargo vessel. With its sister ship, Stril Pioner, the ship has been designed as a response to industry demands for minimizing greenhouse gas emissions. By using LNG as an alternative to marine diesel, the result has been a 90% reduction in the outlet of NOx, and a 30% reduction in CO2. Tests have also shown that the vessel has a fuel economy rate of 30% better than that of diesel.
