A review is given of the new technology surrounding the application of carbon fiber composites for tendons of deepwater tension leg platforms (TLPs). Results of accelerated ageing tests of unprotected rods in seawater indicate that there should be no loss of strength of the rods or the anchorage due to ageing in the marine environment.
