To make spread electric vehicles widely a new concept electric vehicle KAZ was developed. The targets of the development are to realize high performance, highly comfortableness and, of course environmental friendly. The concepts of the technology are to use a ground up design, to modify th best component technology and to realize the original system technologies. The componen technologies adopted are Li-ion battery, Nd-Fe permanent magnet for traction motors and intelligent power module for inverters. The original system technologies are first in wheel drive system where motor, reduction gears, a hub bearing and a mechanical brake are assembled together and set inside each driving wheels, second component built-in frame where all batteries and electrical components are inserted inside hollow spaces of frame structure under the floor, and third the tandem suspension where one larger wheels are separated to two smaller wheels and each damper on the wheels are connected by oil pipes. The size of KAZ is 6.7 long, 1.95 width and 1.68 height, weight is 3,950 g and passengers are 8. The maximum speed is 311 km, 0-400 m acceleration time is 15.3 sec and the range per charge is 300 km at 100 km/h constant speed. The major merit of KAZ is that the cabin space is much wider than conventional same sized vehicles.
