The problem-solving approach to technical markets adopted by nonwovens manufacturers appears to be paying good dividends in the automotive sector. Strong emphasis is placed on lightweight, completely recyclable product. Freudenberg produces the latest version of micron Air particle filters which are based on multi-layer microfiber nonwovens incorporating active carbon and particle filter components. Rieter Automotive Systems claims that its custom-designed ultra-light multi-layer sandwich-type systems and packages can reduce the weight of heavier soundabsorbing components. Libeltex supplies needle punched polyester nonwovens for use as seating substrates, hoodliners, door panels, pillars, noise insulation, electrical cable wrap and dash liners. Most Libeltex products are based on polyester fibers, and the company stresses the recyclability of its products. The company's Fiberspring nonwoven is said to make construction of a totally recyclable auto seat a reality. It can be used for the seat core instead of foam. Sandler AG offers a product range of Sawasorb, Sawasorb Shadow and Sawaform which is a highly efficient fiber absorber that can be used without covering fabrics in different areas of the car, such as door interior trim parts, dashboards and column covers.
