This paper outlines the use and test requirements of adhesives and sealants in the automotive industry. The application and typical properties required by automotive manufacturers are listed. Accelerated ageing test methods and conditions are described. Test results for Elastosol products are used to illustrate the values expected and obtained with these products on a wide range of metal substrates. All bonds failed cohesively after all conditions (for initial tests and after ageing).
