Motor-driven relay track circuits will play an important role in track clearing for some time to come. To ensure safe and faultless operation of low-frequency track circuits, regular checks of motor-driven relays will also be necessary in future. To test Siemens two-layer and tree-layer motor-driven relays, Signal Concept has developed a testing unit that does not require any manual settings, is characterized by a fully automatic measuring sequence with LCD of the trailing factor and easy handling by three keys. The newly developed testing unit design prevents subjective measuring errors. In comparison with previous motor-driven relay testing units, the new unit can implement additional functions such as checking the trailing time, measuring the trailing factor for various relay axle positions with automatic axle rotation and indicating the minimum of all trailing factors measured. The article presents the new motor-driven relay test unit and explains its operation.
