TRIP steels show several advantages: necking elongation comparable to mild steels, bigger hardening level than other materials. Stamping studies showed good formability of TRIP steels. They also proved that galvanisation modifies the mechanical properties, leading to negative effect on stampability compared to EG. Low bake hardening effect is obtained without pre-strain but high bake hardening effect is obtained after pre-strain. The studied TRIP steel has the highest fatigue limit among all tested materials but TRIP intrinsic dynamic behaviour is not so good. Concerning assembling, adjusted welding parameters have to be determined to reach some industrial requirements. Work hardening due to forming has a very positive effect on crash behaviour. This nevertheless requires the modification of the product-process conception to maximise the stretching of sheets, but due to good strain localisation in the part, TRIP steels allow to increase stamping effort and to draw smaller radius on the parts. Stamping geometrical robustness has been checked positively and is acceptable for structural parts. A main difficulty stays that today each steel maker gives its own product in term of chemical composition and mechanical behaviour. It is very difficult to have good delivery strategy for worldwide manufacturing. (VDEh)
