The shortly joining techniques of multi-materials for lightweight body structure were discussed, and two kinds of joining methods were studied. The laser welding of aluminum and steel sheets produced brittle joint. The joint was not completely welded and it would be needed more time to condition the laser welding between aluminum and steel. In addition, the friction welding was also studied for the joining of aluminum and diverse materials with simple mobile friction welder. As a result, the importance for successful friction welding is to maintain the stead friction state under proper pressure and tool speed.
