Phenomena occurring in railway overhead contact system were mathematically modelled and simulated. In particular, the dynamic effects of catenary-pantograph interaction were taken into consideration. The catenary was modelled as visco-elastically connected double Bernoulli-Euler beam system. For pantograph, the model assumed vibrations in vertical plane at constant velocity with 4 degrees of freedom. The applicability of the dynamic model was confirmed by simulation of the pantograph (type WBL 85, 3 kV) vibrations.
