The layout optimisation of a commercial vehicle cabin station should guarantee the necessary functionality together with high comfort. The new IVECO cabin is the result of a restyling process. The bodywrk comes from a previuous model wheras the interiors are new. In the last ten years customer needs have changed and IVECO faced the market challenge by carrying out a detailed restyling of the internal and external parts of the cabin of Euro Star vehicles. Thanks to the modern project systems (3D CAD, FEM structural calculus, Digital Mock-up) and to plastic materials ever more versatile, in just two years it has been possible to adopt a new concept of liveability and usage of the cabin, even if the starting point was a rigid structure (the already existing bodywork), which on the contrary was little adaptable to the changed customer needs. The composition or the technology to obtain the materials referred to are not completely innovative, but what is innovative is their usage: the usage field of plastic materials is changing so it is possible to assign new and more modern concepts to solutions already developed and deep-roted.
