On-board measurement system for vehicle was developed to evaluate the road infrastructure, driver's operation, vehicle running conditions, NOx mass emission and CO2 mass emission. The system was installed in a freight vehicle whose payload is two tons. Exhaust emission tests including steady state and transient mode on chassis dynamometer, and actual on-road tests were conducted by using this system. Conclusions are as follows: 1. The NOx emission of the on-board measurement system at steady state mode test (D13 mode) was different by 9.1 % from that of CVS system. The CO2 emission of the on-board measurement system was correlated by the difference of 6.8 %. The NOx emission of the on-board measurement system at transient mode test (10-15 mode) was different by 8.0 to 14.0 % from that of CVS system. On the other hand, the CO2 emission of the on-board measurement system was rather different in two tests. As the results, NOx distribution at roadside from a running freight vehicle could be easily evaluated by this on-board measurement system with enough accuracy. 2. It was found that NOx at the engine cold condition was higher than that at the engine hot condition. The reason resulted from no EGR operation at engine cold condition. It was demonstratend that on-board measurement system could be used to evaluate the road infrastructure, driver's operation, vehicle running conditions, NOx and CO2 emissions at a confined roadside.
