Here the ISMB system and the IS 'Intervention' subsystem, with their documents and hardware and software support, have already provided for substantial improvements in conducting, analyzing and directing of the maintenance system. The failure effect and on-the-road maintenance analyses have enabled identifying of the bus components, which are subject to most frequent failures. Preventive measues, i.e. preventive maintenance of the components, which failed most recurrently, have been taken. The number of failures has decreased owning to these preventive measures. In this way, readiness and availability of the buses have improved. Owing to the established ranking of drivers according to the number of failures, the drivers have become more 'careful' in driving their busses. This has also proven true for those road sections with the highest failure scores. Reduced number of failures per driver and per road sections has been recorded as the result of this 'more careful' handling of the buses. The presented 'Intervention' sub-system and the ISMB system, i.e. their conceptual solution, can be applied in other transport companies as well, regardless of the road conditions (e.g. driving on roads, driving on roads and in terrain conditions, or driving in terrain conditions, with the only prerequisite being to devise their specific operating and maintaining conditions).
