The Personal Travel Assistance (PTA) is a system developed and realized for a uniform and reliable access and use of travel services. This concept, based on software-agents, allows a traveler to access a variety of services from home and while being on the way via standard off-the shelf devices such as PCs, handheld devices and driver information systems. The services range from provisioning of specific travel information to complete travel planning as well as bookings and reservations. High user acceptance is targeted, due to the simple operation of the end user devices in combination with intelligent and efficient access to the services to the service functions based on an agent-oriented implementation.
