The port of Rotterdam is setting up a 6.6 ha terminal - Agriparc - where grains, seeds, animal feed, vegetable oils and fats and other agri-products can be stored, transshipped, processed or treated. The Rotterdam Municipal Port Management (RMPM) hopes this development will attract new cargo flows and activities in the agrisector. Agriparc will be located in the Botlek area of the port. The terminal will have modem transshipment equipment and enough capacity for horizontal and vertical storage. There will also be other activities such as drying, cleaning and disinfection of grains and seeds. The 40-km-long port has three functions - transshipment and transport, industry and distribution. The port has road, rail or water-based access to the European market of some 350 million consumers. Over 500 lines also run regular services to about 1000 ports worldwide.
