Large commercial aircraft are much more easily identified by radar than are fighter aircraft, because the former's two-dimensional images have sufficient details to let one recognize the aircraft's shape. The usual problem with identification based on shape is lack of knowledge of the aspect angle. As an indication of the relative ease with which commercial aircraft can be identified, this note describes a shape-based identification method that does not require knowledge of the aspect angle.
