The ASIEM (All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Electro-Mechanics) have developed several marine electromechanical systems for naval use. An example for a large electromotive system was the ice-breaking fleet of the first nuclear-powered Soviet icebreaker. A super-high-speed freight and passenger vessel has a speed of 3540 knots and a capacity of power 40 MW. For such ships big propulsion electromotors were developed, as well. ASIEM decided to develop a propeller cryomotor with power of 10 MW. The optimal values of the armature windings were computed and are given in details. A cryoturbogenerator with power of 1 MVA was designed and built. Its main parameters are as follows: stator ferromagnetic, exciting winding from Niobium tin, power factor 0.25, speed, 3000 1/min, voltage 230 V, voltage frequency 50 Hz, stator current 2000 A, exciting current 200 A, helium flow rate, 8 to 15 liter/hour.
