The characteristics and applicability of high-performance alloys or superalloys are discussed like Alloy 720 a nickel-base superalloy, is used for rotating components of aircraft engines due to high strength, creep, and low cycle fatigue. Directionally solidified (DS) nickel-base superalloys possess good creep-rupture strength, ductility and low cycle fatigue. Super-hard high-speed powder tool steel having excellent wear resistance and powder metallurgy tool steels showing excellent dimensional stability and toughness are also discussed. The applicability of Hastealloy and Alloy 33 in chemical industries is supposed to be due to their corrosion resistance in severe environments.
