The consumption of stainless steel powder used for sintered products has increased more remarkably than that of the other powders. This increase is mainly due to the increase of powder metallurgical stainless steel sensor rings for ABS (anti-lock braking system) and the expansion of ABS in auto-industries. However ABS market has almost saturated. For the additional increase of stainless steel powder consumption, the development of new markets is critically needed. Stainless steel materials have various advantages, and authors believe they can expand the application through suitable process developments. The advantages of sintered stainless steel are such as corrosion resistance, heat-resistance, magnetic characteristics, and wear resistance with chromium-carbide. This report shows some examples of application development and investigation of possible developments in the future. (VDEh)
