Higher intensity vibrations are tended to be generated alongside of train lines for the recent faster train operation. From the viewpoints of safe train running on track and of the better built-in environment alongside, the train induced vibration problem is of paramount importance. The objective of this paper is to predict such vibrations theoretically with the knowledge of train and site conditions. The wave field of a train-track and ground system is analyzed by the substructure technique with the soil layer stiffness method. An improvement procedure is further implemented from the inverse problem for the measured data. Vibration mitigation is important when excessive values are generated. The use of the WIB (wave impeding barrier) is therefore demonstrated for it. The 2.5 FEM is used for the concerned computation.
