Als Originaldokument nur Kurzfassung vorhanden im wesentlichen, wie folgt: A method and a system for forming a composite aerofoil structure from a preform itself made from resin impregnated plies is diclosed in US Patent 5 939 006. The company has developed a technique for forming a resin-impregnated prepreg that comprises a root section and a tip, together with leading and trailing edges. This involves the use of upper and lower moulds: the preform is inserted in the lower mould and the upper is then moved towards the lower. Extra resin from the preform is removed from the mould via the leading and trailing edges. Such a fan blade includes the root section at one end and a tip. Extending along the blade from root to tip are the leading edge and trailing edge. This component is made from a preform that forms the blade's core. This is laminated with prepreg skins that provide the aerofoil's shape and which contribute to its structural stiffness. General Electric now proposes that the compression moulding process occurs such that the root section and the tip receive a balanced flow, pressure and shear stress. The root and tip sections are closed with the moulds while the leading and the trailing edges are open. Consequently, extra resin will bleed through the edges, forming a flash which can be horizontal or vertical. Such a flash can be obtained by using a semi-positive type of mould that keeps the edges basically open throughtout the process.
