The Electro-Optical Wet-Mateable connectors of Ocean Design continue to be used in the offshore industry. One recent application is Troll Pilot's subsea separation and water injection system. This article discusses the benefits associated with employing fiber-optics in subsea applications in general, and in subsea separation and water injection systems in particular. It also details some features of the wet-mate Electro-optical (hybrid) connector.
