An approach that presents a rapid and reliable means of evaluating the harmonic dynamic stresses of a simply supported pipeline from data collected in the field is presented. Referred to as the emergency calculator approach, it further illustrates how a calculator or personal computer might be all that's needed to determine dynamic stresses in piping. Through a case history, the simplicity and relative accuracy of the approach are demonstrated.
