Recently the performance of personal computer has been upgraded significantly to a level almost parallel to that of super computer. The author has developed a general-purpose personal computer simulation program for DC feeding systems, which allows the personnel responsible for maintaining, operating and planning feeding systems, who are not computer experts, to perform simulation by simply inputting data in accordance with manual instructions. Now, at several railway companies and related companies in Japan, this program is being used to level up investment effect and save energy, for plans and examinations of substations when a new line is constructed, a line is electrification, and the frequency of train operation is increased.
