The programs simulating train (or single traction vehicle) motion on railway route (or road) enable the cheap testing of traction vehicles characteristics and abilities. The design both of the vehicle and its traction drive can be changed according to the simulation results. Also the correctness of the railway or underground route building projects can be verified by them. The design of catenary and electrified railway energy supply system can be estimated. One simulation program called WinVLAK being set up for the Czech traction vehicle producing plant CKD Praha - Transport Systems will be described in the paper.
