The key points of HSCT(High Speed Civil Transport) success are the development of a heat-resistant, light weight and low cost material/structure. Honeycomb sandwich structure is one of promising structures for HSCT and has been investigating in the world. Titanium honeycomb core is mainly being investigated in the honeycomb sandwich structure. However, the titanium honeycomb core has some problems that is too expensive, difficult to machine it etc. FHI(Fuji Heavy Industries ltd.) and SAIC(Showa Aircraft Industry co., ltd.) have jointly been developing the heat-resistant CFRP honeycomb core and studying its application to aircraft structures. The status of above studies which FHI and SAIC have ever investigated and the concerns in future studies are summarized herein.
