The need for light and low emission vehicles will become urgent. Aluminum with its good strength to weight ratio, its corrosion resistance, its excellent recyclability is one solution for the production of future cars. But there are competing materials like steel, plastics, magnesium where great efforts are being made as well to reach that goal. The authors think that experimental new forming technologies are some more milestones to keep aluminum in front. But the competition between different materials will go on. Forming technologies especially deep drawing and stretch forming of sheets in conventional way, are certainly the core businesses of the car industry. But, with new materials and new semi materials, new forming technologies are becoming more important. For future aluminum cars, therefore a thorough examination of these technologies is necessary for the purposeful selection of the most efficient ones.
