Increasing traffic density of merchant shipping will require more efficient communications. the antiquated state of existing maritime communications on high sea is underscored by the fact that 93% of it is conducted via morse-code telegraphy. A maritime communications satellite service could pay for itself and yield a 25% return on investment during first decade.
