The determination of jet aircraft fuel present as a contaminant in aviation turbine lubricating oils is described. the method involves direct gas chromatography with backflushing of the column to avoid interference from the base turbine oil. the method is rapid, shows good repeatability and is well suited to the routine analysis of large numbers of samples.
