The basic modules of an atc system are described, and two important systems in which plessey radar were involved, considered, the mediator air traffic control system, in the united kingdom, and the eurocontrol upper air space centre at maastricht. Sub-sets of these systems are now being designed to meet the requirements of atc authorities throughout the world. These systems are capable of expansion from the smallest system to a fully automated centre, whilst at the same time making use of common hardware and software modules.
