New ground controlled approach radar to meet usaf tactical needs during the 1970s is designed for bad weather landing operations at rates as high as one per minute. the equipment is part of modular, highly mobile and easily deployed tactical air traffic control system, the an/tpn-19, being developed by raytheon corp. As part of the 407 l tactical air control program. the system has the capacity to track 6 aircraft at one time.
